Chelsea grab late win - Spurs held to scoreless draw

With Manchester United and Manchester City not in action until Sunday, all attention turned to the race for 3rd and 4th spot - and the lucrative Champions League places on Saturday.

Chelsea grabbed a 2-1 victory over Wigan - with the help of a clearly offside opening goal by Branislav Ivanovic and a last-gasp Juan Mata winner as the Blues moved to 5th on 56 points.

Tottenham (59 pts) nudged up to third with a 0-0 draw at Sunderland (42 pts), while Liverpool (43 pts) and Aston Villa drew 1-1 at Anfield.

On Sunday, Arsenal (58 pts) host second-placed Manchester City (71 pts) and leaders Manchester United (76 pts) host Queens Park Rangers.
