Real Madrid beat Barcelona to reach Copa Del Rey Final

Real Madrid beat rivals Barcelona 3-1 in the Camp Nou to reach the Copa del Rey final.

After a 1-1 draw in Madrid a fortnight ago, Barcelona were favoured to win the tie, but Cristiano Ronaldo was the inspiration with two goals and defender Raphael Varane scored his second of the tie before Jordi Alba netted a late consolation for Barcelona.

Madrid go on to face either Sevilla or Atletico Madrid in the final, with their city rivals taking a 2-1 aggregate lead into tomorrow's second leg.

The two sides will clash again this Saturday in a Primera Division match at the Bernabeu in Madrid.

FOOTBALL BETTING : PUNTER MISSES OUT ON MILLION POUND WIN AFTER MILAN HANDBALL GOAL

A Coral betting shop customer who was dreaming of a million pound win tonight had his hopes dashed when AC Milan scored a controversial opener against Barcelona.

The customer, from Wiltshire in the UK, had entered Coral’s free to enter “Win A Million” competition and having predicted the correct scores in the first six Champions League last sixteen matches, needed Schalke and Galatasaray to draw 1 v 1 and Barcelona to beat AC Milan 2 v 0.

The customer’s million pound dream was very much alive after 57 minutes with the Schalke game poised at 1 v 1 and Barcelona and AC Milan still goalless, but then Milan scored after following a blatant handball not spotted by the referee.

Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman said :
“This has been the most extraordinary rollercoaster for the poor customer as at half-time tonight the million pound dream was very much alive. Twitter was going absolutely crazy and the customer, @SimonTorresPike, was bombarded with good luck messages, but it wasn’t to be,” said .

“It has been such an incredible effort by the customer that we have offered him a consolation prize of a trip to Barcelona with a pal to watch the second leg. I imagine after their poor performance tonight he will almost certainly be cheering on AC Milan!!,”.

We recommend Coral to punters living in the United Kingdom and Ireland as a safe place to play - and these players will get a matched "free bet' up to £/€50!

UK Bookmakers declare Manchester United 2013 EPL Champions

Two major UK bookmakers have paid out on this season's Premier League title race, believing the trophy is heading to Old Trafford.

It has become a feature of recent championships that bookmakers call the outcome before it actually happens, although Betfred have sometimes called it too quickly in the past, including last season when they paid out on Manchester United, only for Manchester City to overhaul their rivals over the final six games.

Paddy Power have decided the Manchester United will be champions, paying out on Saturday night following Manchester City's 3-1 defeat by Southampton.

Betfred made their decision after Manchester United's 2-0 victory over Everton on Sunday, with figurehead Fred Done saying on Twitter: "I'm paying out early again. 12 point gap and 12 games left, it's over. I won't be wrong this year."

Argentina were 3-2 winners at Sweden in a match that produced an action-packed start, with four goals in the opening 23 minutes.

An own goal from Mikael Lustig put Argentina ahead in the third minute, but West Brom defender Jonas Olsson drew Sweden level in the 17th minute.

Two goals in four minutes from Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero and Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain soon afterwards earned the South Americans the victory, with Rasmus Elm's late strike nothing more than a consolation.

Frank Lampard's second-half strike earned England their first win over Brazil for 23 years, a 2-1 success in the friendly international at Wembley.

England goalkeeper Joe Hart saved Ronaldinho's first half penalty, and also saved a shot off the rebound Jack Wilshere was adjudged to have handled.
