Brazilian legend Ronaldo retires

Brazilian football superstar Ronaldo has confirmed that he is retiring from all levels of football after battling with a series of injuries.

Ronaldo helped Brazil win two World Cups, in 1994 in USA, and 2002 in Japan, and won 97 caps for Brazil.

He also scored over 350 senior club goals and has been trying to get back into action with Brazilian club side Corinthians.

"I can't take any more" Ronaldo told reporters. "I wanted to continue, but I can't do it any more. I think of an action, but I can't do it the way I want to."

"It's the body that's hurting me. The head wants to go on, but the body can't take any more."

Bookmaker Betfred stirs the Torres Transfer - special bets on offer

Fernando Torres is 20/1 with Betfred to compound the misery for his former club Liverpool by scoring a hat-trick against them on his debut for Chelsea at the weekend.

The Spanish striker, who completed a £50m move minutes before the end of the January transfer window, can be backed at Betfred at 7/2 to open the scoring at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and 10/11 to bag a goal at any time in the match.

Torres is 2/5 to score more Premier League goals during the remainder of this season than Andy Carroll, who is 7/4 in this market having been bought for £35million by Liverpool from Newcastle as they sought to replace Torres.

Betfred spokesman Jon Wilde said: “Torres has gone from Anfield superhero to arch-villain in just a couple of days, to the point where fans have been burning shirts with his name on. Imagine how those supporters will feel if he nets a hat-trick against them while the feelings are still so raw.”
