Blackpool win promotion to Championship

Blackpool celebrate their first goal in a 2-0 win

Blackpool's return to English Championship football after a 29-year exile was sealed with a 2-0 win over Yeovil in the League One play-off final.

A goal in each half from Robbie Williams and Keigan Parker ensured that Blackpool won their tenth game on the trot - breaking a club record that had stood for 70 years.

While the one-time FA Cup winners dominated the first half, Glovers goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall was not actually tested before Williams curled in a free-kick from 25 yards in the 43rd minute.

Frustratingly for Yeovil, the free-kick was awarded against Terrell Forbes despite the defender making only minimal contact with Parker. Parker then gave the Seasiders a comfortable advantage in the 52nd minute with a wonderful long-range strike.

Yeovil, who were in the Isthmian League just a decade ago, battled and battled but never really looked like getting back in the game, with Marcus Stewart wasting their best chance late on.

That's two wins for the favourites now - and we've got a preview for the final playoff game as well :
